My mother’s side of the family is from New Orleans. I have such fond memories of visiting family there as a girl, and staying at my Aunt Lorraine’s large brownstone in the French Quarter. I’ve made it back a couple of times as an adult, and really enjoyed the Mardi Gras festivities. Since Katrina left her mark on New Orleans, most of my Louisiana family has relocated to Texas and Florida, although I still have one Aunt a few cousins who have refused to let mother nature scare them away. I’ve decided to go back to my family’s roots and plan a Mardi Gras party for my friends and family here in rural Georgia.

Gumdrops Recipe: great for Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and this is such a CUTE and easy recipe to make during the fun and lovvy season! Making Gumdrops (which includes applesauce) just requires a few ingredients and your favorite people to make them. This would be great for a Classroom treat or to make a homemade Valentine’s Gift for someone that you love!

Valentine’s Day is approaching fast!  This year I wanted to make a treat that is healthy, but still delicious and seasonal, and I came up with this Pomegranate Cherry Yogurt Parfait.

Valentine's Day is a special day for me because it is me and Robert's anniversary! I know, pretty cheesy, right? We actually don't celebrate outside of the house anymore because everyone else is celebrating, so we usually stay home and go on with our daily routine. Then we wait til the day or weekend after to actually where he wines and dines me :)

Custom Made Kitchen Buffet

We seldom used the table and chairs that were in the kitchen,   so I thought that space could be put to a better use with a buffet to store dishes, glasses, and misc kitchen stuff.    I looked everywhere for a vintage buffet to fit the space and had the storage that I wanted....no luck.    So,  I asked H if he thought he could custom make me one and of course he said yes....gotta love that guy!

Who doesn’t love an easy and inexpensive craft? These simple Valentine’s Day cupcake lights are so easy to make, so sweet to display, and so easy on your wallet! With just a few dollar store supplies, you can make a set of your own and add some glow to your Valentine’s Day décor. Take a peek below and get inspired, as the season for sweethearts is almost here!

This Momma Loves
American Girl Valentines

Got a girl who loves her American Girl dolls?  I know both of mine do- and most of their friends! Here are some a-doll-able Valentines that they can share with all of their friends- and their dolls!!

These Cookies & Creme Cookie Butter Balls are a perfect last minute addition to any party! Now, I don't know about you, but when I'm planning a party I tend to look for quick and easy foods that can be eaten standing up and with your fingers. That usually means a menu of bite sized tasty goodness. But just because it's small, doesn't mean it can't pack loads of flavor!

Here is a great Daily Goals Plan Your Life Printable that would go great with my To Do List Printable to help organize your life and time. The Daily Goals Printable has a feature spot for your tip 3 goals, a things to do list, shopping list, call back list, appointments area and a cute little space to help keep track of your daily water intake. The weekly sheet is great for keeping track of your appointments using a week by week sheet.  When used together with the Daily To Do List Printables you can easily create a really cute binder system to help keep yourself just a little more organized.

We believe many things even though we cannot see them. We believe there are nice things inside wrapped presents, even though we cannot tell for sure until we open the box. We believe we have a heart, and it is the right size although we have never actually seen our own heart.  We believe there are rocks on the moon, even though we have never been to the moon.

Great Skincare At A Fraction Of The Cost

Mid-Thirties…… They are interesting. You really start going from looking like a kid, to a full fledged adult. Whether you want to or not. The little lines around your eyes start to, not only appear but make a daily appearance. The “smile lines” (you know the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth) are always there. And those dark circles that you use to only get when you got no sleep and had a bit to much wine, also start showing up on a normal basis. Ugh… no more simple flawless skin, that you forget to take care of.

I've been making this recipe for years. The first time I made it was for a party for our birthing class.  That was for my first baby, Morgan, who is now almost 29!  After we had all had our babies, we got together for a picnic/party in a park on Mother's Day.  We were all first time parents.  It was so fun to see each other's babies and share our birth stories. And the dessert was a hit!

Now that Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, red velvet everything is in high demand! You might even see another red velvet recipe from me next week, I’m sorry, I can’t help it. It’s a problem, I know! LOL.

Terms like "Wedded Bliss" should not exist...because we all know that marriage is never pure joy 100% of the time.  Heck, you're one of the lucky ones if you're batting 500 consistently.  No matter how wonderful your spouse is, it takes an incredible amount of patience to create and sustain a happy home.

All of a sudden it looked complete.  And it looked like we did it on purpose, which was my end game all along. I wish I could take credit for this, but Charles gets all the props, top to bottom. I think I’ll keep him.

We already had the two Ikea bookcases, which were given to Charles for helping a friend move. The stacking kit for the washer and dryer, with tax and shipping, cost $28.42. So we came in under $30. Woop woop!

Minnesota Wild Rice Soup 1
This is one of my very favorite, warm you –through-and-through soups.  Hearty, comforting and completely satisfying.  I think you will like it too

Hey y’all!!!  We are still fighting the flu over here and man it has been rough (and a little scary at times).  This is the first day I have been able to drag my butt off the sofa to whip up some yummy treats to share with you.
Sooo Valentine’s Day is coming up and it is on a Saturday, woo!!  Oh wait, I’m a mom that means there are no babysitters out there because they are all celebrating with their Valentines.  I don’t mind though, spending Valentine’s Day snuggled up on the sofa with a new movie, a bowl of popcorn, my husband and a warm shared quilt is the perfection.

Did you know that Valentine’s Day is the second most popular Holiday for sending cards? Only Christmas ranks higher!
How about you? Do you send Valentine’s cards?

This Weeks 30 Minute Dinner Meals

I'm putting together some 30 minute meals I can make after working long days so that I have more time with my family.  I've just barely began but I've managed to put together fast, delicious meals recently by simply planning out my weeks dinner and purchasing accordingly

There's nothing new or fancy on my menu list so far.  I've chosen some past favorites and some american classics to get me started.  My goal is a 30 day menu planner with everything 30 minutes or less.

Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

Cheeseburger and fries, of course, I've got kids

Pizza, no it's not fresh, it's DiGiorno

Grilled Turkey and Strawberry Salad

Breakfast for dinner

Yummy Bacon, Egg, & Cheese Sandwiches

Manwich Sloppy Joe we added tater tots

Fettuccine Alfredo

I Love Juicy Shampoo - Guest Post

Hello again from Natalie Loves Beauty! One thing I've learned over the years is that the longer I go without washing my hair, the better my locks look and feel. Let me explain: I used to be a firm believer that washing my hair daily was best to keep it ultra clean and luscious. I could not stand not washing my hair for longer than a day, and could not even fathom stepping out of the house without a freshly washed mane. I was the one who said to others: "How can you only wash your hair every other day? One extra day of no-wash and my hair looks so dirty and greasy!" Boy have I proven myself wrong! Funny how things change... I now find my hair to be unmanageable when it is freshly washed, and much prefer it on its second or third day following washing since it is so much easier to style! With time, my hair has become less greasy between washes, and with the help of my trusty baby powder (more on that here), I can stretch the amount of days between washes. I've recently been smitten by a hair care duo from Lush, namely the I Love Juicy Shampoo and Veganese Conditioner, which were kindly gifted to me by my lovely sister over the holidays. I will go as far saying they are the best I have ever tried - here's why.

The I Love Juicy Shampoo, first of all, smells like a tropical vacation in a bottle. Although not 100% chemical-free (it contains sodium lauryl sulfate and fragrance, for instance, which I was sad to read on the label and did not really expect to find in Lush products), the fruits, essential oils and seaweed extracts certainly deliver and make my hair look and smell amazing for days. I find myself only needing to squeeze a very small amount out as it lathers quite well (although probably attributable to the SLS content). I've been using it for over a month now and it looks like I've barely even used it. Other (natural) ingredients include lemon and orange peel oils, and also papaya, kiwi, and mango fruit juices (how exotic!). This shampoo is specifically formulated to tackle greasy roots, so if this is an issue you currently have with your hair, I Love Juicy might just be for you!

The Veganese Conditioner smells just as beachy, although I would say it is slightly more citrus-y than I Love Juicy. Both of these products are vegan and cruelty free, which is what I really appreciate about them. This product also contains SLS and perfume, although in smaller quantity as it is lower down in the ingredient list. It boasts ingredients such as lavender and rosemary extracts as well as lemon peel oil. Again, a little goes a long way, and I make sure to leave it in for at least two minutes before rinsing (quick tip: doing this with any conditioner really works to make your hair extra smooth and to lessen frizz, along with rinsing in cold water). These two products go very well together, and if one day I replace one of them, my hair just does not feel the same.

Price-wise, these two products run on the more expensive side for the full sizes, although you can get the smaller or medium sizes to test out first. The price range is what has me on the fence as to whether I will purchase them again once emptied. I really like them, yet as a beauty nut I am on that eternal mission to find something even better. Overall though, my hair has been at its prime, and it is thanks to these two Lush products right here.

Have you tried any hair products from Lush? How did you like them?

Copper Tone Fan - Natural Color Kitten Paw Sea Shell with Peach Freshwater Pearl, Sparkly Pure Copper Delicate Chain Necklace

"I personally had the awe inspiring pleasure of plucking this naturally brightly colored Kitten Paw seashell (I like to call them "fans" or "pretty paws") full of bright peach and white from the sugar white sands of the Cape San Blas Beach in the Florida Gulf of Mexico. I have carefully drilled a 2.1 mm hole into the seashell to utilize it as a pretty pendant. All its metal findings are pure copper.  The fine and dainty super sparkly high quality copper chain is 17 inches with a strong lobster clasp. The beautiful peach freshwater pearl connector is a 7 mm pearl with pure copper 24 gauge wire. I make sure my jewelry findings are of fine quality."
